Initial Testing Launch

As someone who spent years learning Unity and game development, and eventually releasing my own game on steam, I decided to take a look at how game design/development is taught to kids. My research showed a lot of 'coding is game development' which is far from the truth. Game development involves many different professions, from audio engineers, to voice actors to project management. My feeling is that the way that game design is taught to children now pushes away so many of the other important roles in creating a game. So, i started to put together a design first learning environment for kids. Yes, for the advanced levels, it has code in the settings that can be tweaked, however, that is optional. The idea is to teach the fundamentals of making a game. The rules, the level design, the 'juice' as they call it. Hopefully, I can put together something that kids enjoy and share with their friends and family. To start the project, I have included two starter levels for demo purposes. A crystal cave level that teaches the basics and the candy kingdom level that introduces vertical level design and launchpads. Each level after these will introduce a different mechanic. So, for now.......i have the two starter levels and all of the "What's involved in making a game" content. This project is a continuous work in progress, and I would like to thank my amazing and talented daughter for slowly taking my placeholder images and replacing them with her beautiful and one of a kind artwork. The first piece that she created for me is the taffy cat player character in the candy kingdom level. So, if you like cats and you like candy and you like taffy cats, that kitten was created for me by my daughter.
